Drug Interactions

Some of the pharmaceuticals that can interact with this contraceptive pill with Ethinyl Estradiol and Desogestrel are:

• Sulfadiazine
• Carbamazepine
• Cyclosporine
• Tetracycline
• Prednisolone
• Tranexamic Acid
• Warfarin
• Rifampicin
• Phenytoin

Disease Interactions

Do not take these tablets if you have the following health conditions:

Hypertension

You should use Femilon pills with extreme caution if you suffer from Hypertension. In such cases, the risk of adverse effects on the heart and blood vessels is extremely high. Based on your clinical condition, your doctor may recommend close monitoring of your heart function and vital signs and replacement with a suitable alternative.

Hepatic malignancies

If you have a history of liver tumors, do not take Ethinyl Estradiol and Desogestrel tablets, as they may exacerbate your condition. Depending on your clinical condition, your physician may suggest a suitable replacement.

Food Interactions

Consumption of alcohol, tobacco, grapefruit, and caffeine while taking this medicine is not recommended as it may have adverse effects.

Precautions

Remember the below-mentioned points while undergoing treatment:

• Missed Dose: If you miss a dose of Desogestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablet, immediately contact your doctor for further instructions. The instructions may vary depending on the day of the missed dose. You may also need a backup method of contraception in case you miss a dose. At the first missed period, the possibility of pregnancy should be considered and upon confirmation, discontinue the medicine
• Overdose: No serious adverse effects have been reported in cases of overdose. You might experience nausea, vomiting, and minor vaginal bleeding. However, if you suspect an overdose, seek emergency medical assistance or contact your doctor
• Do not take these birth control pills if you are breastfeeding or pregnant
• You may experience menstrual irregularities, including spotting, bleeding between periods, or missed periods. Consult a physician if the condition persists
• Avoid if you are obese, above 35, a smoker, undergoing prolonged bed rest, or have a history of blood clots
• Stop taking this medication immediately and contact your healthcare provider if you experience unexplained pain or swelling in the limbs, shortness of breath, severe headache, chest pain, or vision changes. These are possible signs of a blood clot in a vein
• Stop taking Ethinyl Estradiol and Desogestrel tablet and contact your doctor immediately if you develop jaundice (yellowing of the skin and sclera), severe stomach pain, severe depression, or if you suspect you may be pregnant
