Side effects

Most of the side effects of the medicine mentioned below do not need any medical attention as your body gets used to the medicine. However, if side effects persist or you are worried about them, talk with your doctor.

• Headache
• Hypotension (Low Blood Pressure)
• Nausea
• Indigestion
• Skin Rash or Redness
• Muscle or joint pain
• Swelling of the ankles and legs
• Unconsciousness
• Constipation

Interactions

If Calaptin 40 interacts with certain medications, diseases, or food items, it might have some side effects. Thus it is advised to consult your doctor if you use any of the following medications, consume any food item, or have any mentioned diseases.

Drug Interactions

Taking Calaptin 40 mg Tablet with mentioned medicines may modify the effect of either medicine. It can interact with the following medicines:

• Colchicine
• Erythromycin
• Ritonavir
• Ketoconazole
• Rifampicin
• Aliskiren
• Amiodarone
• Amlodipine
• Benidipine

Disease Interactions

Calaptin 40 may interact with the following diseases:

• Liver Disease
• Kidney Disease
• Cardiogenic Shock
• Second or Third Degree Heart Block
• Sick Sinus Syndrome
• Neuromuscular Transmission Diseases
• Coronary Artery Disease
• Aortic Stenosis

Food Interactions

Calaptin 40 mg may interact with the following food and beverages:

• Alcohol consumption
• Grapefruit

Hence, avoid consuming alcohol and Grapefruit juice while taking Hypertension medicines.  

Precautions

While using Calaptin 40, keep the following things in mind:

• Missed dose: Try to take medicine at a fixed time. If you missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it’s time for your next dose. Do not overuse the medicine to make up for the missed dose
• Overdose: Overdose of Calaptin 40mg Tablet may cause sleepiness, nausea, dizziness, confusion, lack of energy, skin redness, and unconsciousness. Contact the doctor immediately if you suspect any of these signs
• It is recommended to consult your doctor if you are pregnant
• Taking Calaptin pills may affect your vision, decrease alertness, or make you feel sleepy, thus avoid driving or operating on heavy machinery
• After taking the medicine, rise slowly if you are sitting or laying down, as it causes Orthostatic Hypotension
• The medication is not recommended for children below the age of 18
• Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without consulting with your doctor
• While using the medicine, monitor your blood pressure and take frequent blood tests

Storage

Store Calaptin 40 below 30° C. Keep it in a clean, dry, and dark place. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
