About Azopt Eye Drop 1%

Azopt eye drop is a medicine used to treat people with Glaucoma or Ocular Hypertension which is characterized by high pressure in their eyes. The salt present in this eye drop is Brinzolamide. When the pressure in your eye is too high, it can hurt your ability to see. Azopt eye drop works by making the eye have less fluid. Azopt Eye Drop 1% comes with highly positive reviews and is a recommended medication for Glaucoma.

Usage

The following are the uses of Azopt eye drops:

Open-angle Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause damage to the optic nerve to get worse over time. It is a condition where the pressure inside the eye, called intraocular pressure, rises. This can cause permanent loss of vision. Glaucoma can happen at any age, but people over 60 are more likely to get it. Glaucoma is more likely to occur if you are older, have a family history, or have previously had any eye injury. Low blood flow to the optic nerve and health problems like high blood pressure and diabetes also causes it.

Ocular Hypertension

When the eye makes too much fluid, pressure builds up, causing Intraocular pressure to rise. This can lead to Glaucoma in the long run.

Working

Azopt eye drop slows down carbonic anhydrase. It stops the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), which lowers the pressure in the eye.

FAQ

What are Azopt eye drops used for?

Azopt is a prescription brand-name drug. It’s FDA-approved to treat high eye pressure in adults with Ocular Hypertension (high blood pressure in the eye) or open-angle glaucoma, the most common type of glaucoma (an eye disease usually caused by increased pressure inside the eye).

How long does Azopt take to work?

Brinzolamide may take between 1 to 4 weeks to work fully.

It works by stopping your eye from making as much fluid. This makes your eye pressure go down. If you take it for Glaucoma, it helps keep your condition from getting worse.

Should Azopt be refrigerated?

Keep the medicine in a sealed container at room temperature, away from direct light, heat, and moisture. Also, keep the bottle standing up when you’re not using it.
