Some of the common side effects of Glycomet 1000 mg tablet SR:

• Diarrhea
• Weakness
• Chest discomfort
• Headache
• Heartburn
• Insomnia
• Swollen joints
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting

Glycomet tablets can interact differently with various other medicines. The patient must avoid some interaction with food, drugs, and other diseases, which will cause severe problems.

Drug Interaction

Metformin present in Glycomate can interact with other drugs that can be life-threatening. 

Some of the drugs which can interact are

• Ketotifen Tablet
• Amiloride 
• Beclometasone
• Azofen 1 mg
• Ketovent 1 mg tablet
• Asthafen syrup

Food Interaction

Avoid drinking alcohol while on treatment. Alcohol can react with Metformin and results in an increase in Lactic Acid concentration in the body.

Disease Interaction

The patient should not take Glycomet 1000mg SR tablet if having the following diseases:

• Type 1 Diabetes (Insulin Dependent)
• Kidney problems
• Liver problems
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis

Inform your doctor about any of the following problems before taking this medication.

Precautions

You must follow some precautions while using this medicine:

• Missed dose: In case of a missed dose, take it right away. Do not take two doses at a time, as it can cause an overdose. You can skip the first dose, if it’s already time for the second dose
• Overdose: In case of overdose, immediately consult your doctor
• Prolonged use of Glycomet can cause a deficiency of Vitamin B12 which can cause pale skin, shortness of breath, anemia, and headache
• You must regularly check your blood sugar levels and kidney functions while taking medication
• If you experience any rapid breathing, nausea, or stomach pain, contact your doctor right away
• Low blood sugar levels may occur if you skip a dosage. Consume any sugar source for rapid relief
• Only take the correct dosage as instructed by your doctor

Storage

Store Glycomet SR in a cool place below 30°C. Keep the medicine away from direct sunlight and away from pets and children.
