Unicontin-E 400 Side Effects

As you adjust to the medication, the side effects will subside. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if the symptoms persist or worsen.

Here are some side effects of Unicontin with Theophylline:

• Upset stomach
• Increased/Irregular heart rate
• Sleeplessness
• Diarrhea
• Stomach discomfort and pain
• Headache
• Restlessness
• Difficulty or painful urination
• Nausea and vomiting

Drug Interactions

The following drugs may interact with Unicontin-E 400 with Theophylline:

• Advair Diskus (Fluticasone / Salmeterol)
• Combivent (Albuterol / Ipratropium)
• Metoprolol Succinate ER (Metoprolol)
• ProAir HFA (Albuterol)
• Protonix (Pantoprazole)
• Ventolin (Albuterol)

Disease Interactions

Avoid taking Unicontin to treat Asthma and Bronchospasms if you have the following health conditions:

• Seizure disorders
• Heart rhythm disorders
• Liver Disease
• Peptic ulcer
• Kidney Disease

Food Interactions

Avoid Caffeine, as consumption can lead to side effects. Do not consume Alcohol while undergoing treatment, as it can reduce the effectiveness of the medicine.

Lab Interactions

Report the use of Unicontin-E 400 tablet CR to your doctor or lab technician before undergoing the Serum Uric acid test. This medicine may interfere with the results and may give a false-positive result.

Precautions

Keep in mind the following before taking Unicontin-E 400 mg with Theophylline:

• Missed dose: If a dose of Unicontin-E tablet is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible. However, if the next scheduled dose is approaching, it is advisable to skip the missed dose. Doubling the dose to make up for a missed one is not recommended
• Overdose: In the event of an overdose, seek emergency medical treatment
• Unicontin 400 does not work immediately and should not be used for sudden breathing difficulties. Always carry a quick-acting (rescue) inhaler
• Your doctor may perform routine blood tests to monitor your potassium level and the drug’s concentration in your body
• Even if you feel better, do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor first
• Avoid this medicine if you are breastfeeding or are pregnant
• Unicontin is not recommended for sudden onset of Asthma
• High doses of Unicontin-E can lead to Theophylline toxicity. Always stick to the dosage prescribed by your physician
  
• Use Unicontin-E 400 Tablet CR with caution in old people

Storage

Store Unicontin below 30°C. Keep the medicine away from children and pets.
