Telma 40 Side Effects

Most side effects don’t require medical attention. They start to disappear once your body gets adjusted to the medicine.

In case you are still worried, consult your doctor. Some common side effects of these tablets are as follows:

• Fever
• Diarrhea
• Dizziness
• Back pain
• Weakness
• Muscle pain
• Stomach pain
• Sinus pain and Congestion
• Difficulty or painful urination

Interactions

Depending on the patient, each drug interacts uniquely. Do not combine 40 mg of Telma with specific medications/diseases/foods. Before initiating your treatment, consult a physician to know about all manageable interactions.

Drug interaction

Having the Telma pills with any of the following medicines may cause side effects.

• Potassium supplements
• Blood thinners (Heparin)
• Antibiotics (Trimethoprim)
• Muscle relaxant (Tizanidine)
• Pain killers (Ibuprofen, Aspirin)
• Medicines used to treat Heart problems (Digoxin)
• Water pills (Amiloride, Spironolactone, Triamterene)
• High Blood Pressure-lowering medicines (Lisinopril, Enalapril)

Disease interaction

If you have prior interactions with Congestive Heart Failure, then using this medicine might cause further damage.

Food interactions

You may need to avoid certain food items during the treatment process. 

• During the treatment with Telmisartan 40 mg (an active salt), avoid the consumption of Grapefruit juice and Alcohol due to their side effects 
• Try to avoid Potassium supplements and their salt substitutes as they result in Hyperkalemia (high levels of potassium in the blood)
• It may cause severe side effects like irregular heartbeat and Kidney failure

Precautions

Telma tablets come with specific instructions.

• Missed Dose: If you missed a dose of Telmisartan 40 mg salt, take it as soon as possible. However, if you are close to the next dose, skip having the missed one and set a reminder. Try to take your dose on time and strictly adhere to your prescription
• Overdose: Don’t overdose on your medicine; it will not help you heal faster. Instead, you may end up deteriorating your health. In case your condition degrades, consult your doctor
• Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using 40 mg of Telma. Your doctor will refer you to the best available alternatives
• Notify your doctor at once if you experience muscle pain, weakness, stomach pain, loss of hunger, a sick feeling, or dark urine, particularly accompanied by fever
• It is not prescribed for teenagers as it might trigger weakness and tenderness of muscles

Storage

Store the medicine away from sunlight in Aluminium containers. Keep them away from the reach of children and pets.
