One of the essential forms of lens opacity is the Posterior Polar Cataract.\u00a0

It is a rare form of Congenital Cataract<\/a>.

Posterior Polar Cataract affects 0.003% of people worldwide.\u00a0

It was determined to be bilateral in 65\u201380 percent of instances.

It is usually inherited as an autosomal dominant disease but can be sporadic.\u00a0

It is also connected with surgical problems, such as Posterior Subcapsular Cataracts and nucleus loss, which will be discussed in this article.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Posterior Subcapsular Polar Cataract<\/h2>\n\n\n

A Posterior Subcapsular Cataract (PSC) is a rapidly expanding opacity in the standard lens’s posterior region.

This cataract is especially prevalent in those who take steroids or have diabetes. PSC symptoms might emerge over several months and not at once.\u00a0

These include light sensitivity, glare, and nearsightedness.

Numerous medical disorders and risk factors<\/a> influence PSC development.\u00a0

Because of this, PSC is more prevalent in younger individuals than other types of Cataracts<\/a>.

According to the Beaver Dam Eye Study<\/a>, the incidence of PSC in a single eye was approximately three percent.

The prevalence of cortical cataracts was approximately 8%, whereas nuclear cataracts<\/a> were about 13%.<\/p>\n\n\n

A PSC restricts and scatters the light reaching the retina, resulting in visual abnormalities.

A cataract, when it\u2019s at the beginning stage, it\u2019s slow and causes blurry vision. 

The blurry vision is caused due to<\/a> cloudiness in the outer layer of the lens. <\/p>\n\n\n

Halos around lights <\/h3>\n\n\n

The diffraction of entering<\/a> light due to cloudiness in the eye causes halo formation.

People with Cataracts commonly experience halos around the light. <\/p>\n\n\n

Glare from headlights while driving at night<\/h3>\n\n\n

As Cataract grows, it gradually makes it difficult for light to enter the eye. 

Since light is scattered, people may experience glare and light sensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n

Causes of Subcapsular Polar Cataracts<\/h2>\n\n\n

PSC are caused by the accumulation and clustering of protein fibers in the back of the lens, just in front of the posterior lens capsule.<\/p>\n\n\n
